It’s a 34 metre tall bronze statue of Buddha and the easiest to spot from a distance. It was made in 1993 near the Po Lin Monastery as a symbol of harmonious relationships between man and nature, people and faith. You can reach the Big Buddha, one of the easiest places to visit near Ngong Ping 360, from the Tung Chung cable car by taking an exit at Terminal B of Tung Chung MTR station. The statue is located a 10 minutes walk away from the village. There is a long staircase that needs to be followed in order to finally reach the top to the statue.

It’s a 1906 founded buddhist monastery situated in the small village of Ngong Ping of Lantau island, Hong Kong. The monastery has numerous religious scriptures and three bronze statues of Buddha that represent his past, present and future lives. The 111 years old monastery has incredible architecture, it has splendid halls, gardens, restaurant and the popular Tian Tan Buddha or the Big Buddha has been located in its premises as well. There are several halls in the monastery located like Weituo Hall, Ti-tsang Bodhisattva Hall, Benaroya Hall, Sutra Collection Hall and Maitreya Hall. In the different restaurants located in the vicinity of the monastery you would find the perfect vegetarian dishes like mixed mushroom soup, and much more.

The wisdom path, one of the must places to visit near Ngong Ping 360, is a route shaped in the Chinese letters that signify the wisdom of Heart sutra’s verses. The whole route has been installed and marked out by wooden carvings which is located on the foot of Lantau Peak. The installation is two-dimensional calligraphy of ‘infinity symbol’ and has almost 38 timber columns engraved with carvings from heart sutra arranged around it. The project was completed in 2005, it was initiated by the popular sinologist Professor Jao Tsung-I who wanted to disclose the treasure of Heart Sutra to the world. The text is special because it has been treasured by Confusians, Buddhists and Toaists alike.

It is another attraction in Ngong Ping that should not be missed at all because here you’d enjoy the best of Lantau landscape views. One of the amazing places to visit near Ngong Ping 360, the Ngong Ping Piazza has an area of about 1.5 hectares which is located on the top of the mountains. The Piazza has four main components which are Pai Lau, Bodhi Pathi, Di Tan and a Chinese landscaped garden. There are several traditional structures in its close vicinity as well as many trails like Nei LakShan Country Trail, Lantau Trail and Ngong ping Trail.

While trailing through the trek you’d witness a variety of wildlife and forests of the Lantau island, it’s also the best trail for walking and hiking.

The trail is amongst the largest trails in Hong Kong which is located on Lantau island of the New Territories and one of the must-see places to visit near Ngong Ping 360 to explore the diversity of the city. The trail is a 70 km long loop that begins and ends at Mui Wo and it’s situated over an altitude of 4,057 metres. It has 12 stages and at every 500 metre distance you’d see an information board and maps. You would reach both Lantau Peak and Sunset Peak where you’d enjoy stunning views of the beautiful landscapes. During the tail you'd pass through the old fishing village of Tai O and other 12 villages.

The trail is 5.7 km long and takes you through Tung Chung Station to your way up to Ngong Ping Village over a period of approximately 4 hours. The route has endless steps and staircases which makes it even more challenging. During the trek you’d pass through the Tung Chung Bay, Yat Tung Estate, Yu Tung Road and through the trailhead of Tung O Ancient Trail. Finally, you would finish the trek at Ngong Ping cable car terminus, where you can treat yourself with a well-deserved snack break and then continue to move up to Tian Tan Buddha.

It’s one of the most exciting places to visit near Ngong Ping 360 especially for kids. It’s basically a theatre which has extraordinary seats that let you enjoy a highly immersive experience. The 3D effects arranged by the theatre like water spray, wind effects and other such stimulating installations makes it a worthy experience. At motion 360, which you can locate in the Ngong Ping Village, get on the magical spaceship ride and fly over the Big Buddha and get closer to the Pink Chinese Dolphins. The ride has been designed for the entertainment of adults and kids who are more than 3 years old. All the participants must have at least 100 cm of height and must weigh less than 113 kg.

It’s a traditional temple dedicated to the Chinese god of war which was built in 1488 in the Tai O fishing village. One of the amazing places to visit near Ngong Ping 360, it’s the oldest temple in the village and locals come here to seek blessings for prosperous fishing and farming harvests. The temple stands today as a symbol of valiance and loyalty, it has a red-faced Kwan Tai standing in the main hall who is revered by every visitor. The temple is surrounded by stilt houses, in order to reach the temple one has to cover the bridge from the mainland to the island and walk up to Tai O Market Street.
